The Monterey Regional Park District contracted Turf Image to create and maintain a district wide GIS for project management and land stewardship. Data was created and collected using GIS, GPS, Satellite Imagery, and LiDAR elevation data. The Park District current boundaries cover over 500 square miles and include the seven incorporated cities on the Monterey Peninsula, Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach and the Big Sur Coast.
Our team collected GPS data for trail management at the Garland Ranch Regional Park and the Palo Corona Regional Park. Trail maps were used for public handouts and environmental impact reports and visual impact analysis. Currently the project management staff uses the GIS for park management, board meeting reports, census reporting, and planning for future land acquisitions.

The Lake County Water Authority contracted Turf Image for the scanning and georeferencing of historical aerial photos for incorporation into the Water Authority’s Geographic Information System database. The study area encompassed the entire Lake County area; covering an area of about 1,156 square miles in Central Florida.
Our team scanned, georeferenced, orthorectified, color contrasted, and mosaiced over 2,000 aerial tiles from 1942, 1947, 1958, 1972, 1978, 1985, 1988, and 2000.

The Hastings Natural History Reservation (University of California Berkeley) contracted Turf Image to create and maintain GIS data for project sharing to further the goals of the reserve. Hastings is a Biological Field Station of the University of California, Museum of Vertebrate Zoology and Natural Reserve System.
The reserve provides the wild lands and facilities to conduct university and graduate level studies of natural systems in the Santa Lucia mountain range in Monterey County, California. A representative ecosystem of about 2,500 acres, Hastings was established in 1937 to be managed with minimal disturbance for research and education. Over 500 research projects have been conducted since 1937 at Hastings. The GIS allows students to share and use past research projects with current research projects for correlation studies.

The Monterey-Salinas Transit contracted Turf Image to create a GIS for route analysis and stop ridership of the mass transit system. The Monterey-Salinas Transit operates 37 routes and serves an estimated 352,000 population across a 280 square-mile area of Monterey County and Southern Santa Cruz County.
Our team used street data and GPS data to highlight each route with bus stop locations. The geodatabase serves as a base map to illustrate ridership values for each stop based on riders boarding and existing buses. Vector data was created and buffered to calculate the overall service area of the Monterey Salinas Transit.

Turf Image assisted The Shenandoah Valley Battlefield Foundation with creating a GIS basemap to help their organization goals. The Shenandoah Valley Battlefield Foundation partners with landowners, local governments, and others to protect the Valley’s battlefields and historic character.
The Foundation focuses on the 21,000 acres of land retaining historic integrity on the ten legislated battlefields. This is done collaboratively through the purchase of land and conservation easements from willing sellers. The Foundation also works with local governments to improve the planning and preservation protections that will help to ensure the survival of the battlefields.
Clear Channel Communication contracted Gold Coast Electric to conduct a power supply survey for over 1,000 bus stops in San Francisco, CA. Turf Image was contracted to map bus stop locations to assist in the power suply using. Our team used geocoded route information and GPS to map bus stop locations and tie attribute to the stops.
The geodatabase was used to illustrate what types of power each bus stop uses to better decide what type of advertisement clear channel may offer at each stop.
The Irvine Ranch Water District contracted DCSE, to map over 80,000 water meters and wells for use within a district wide GIS. Turf Image was contracted to collect high resolution GPS data for the mapping project. Our team used Trimble GeoXH GPS units with Zephyr Antennas loaded with a custom ArcPad application to collect GPS data while recording meter information.
